Flickr favourites

I thought I might give you all a bit of an insight into some of the Flickr photographers whose work I love + adore. Flickr is one of my biggest sources of inspiration.
Francesca Jane Allen
This photograph is probably one of my all-time favourites. The rich colour, the textures, the textiles... everything.
Molly Hare
I absolutely adore photographs of mountains, and this one I feel just shows how intense they are.
New Legs
I could so see this becoming inspiration for a textile print! A line drawing to symbolise this would look amazing.
Ash Lie
Isn't this collage amazing?
Monika Traikov
I have loved this designer's work for so long, and I always find I come back to them to just wonder at how they have done some of the images, and creates a huge curiosity in my own work.
Look left and look right
I just love this photographer.
This photograph is beautiful.
Oakmoss
I have a guilty-pleasure for softened, out-of-focus images.
Especially this one.
Alisa Demidova
This photographer's work is stunning. I feel like I have been taken to a different period in time.
Veerledee
And this lovely photographer is a new friend of mine. Her story, her strength, and her ability to take each day as it comes is just remarkable and so inspiring!

Early 21st/leaving party!

Last night I celebrated a very early 21st birthday (my birthday is in May), and combined it with a chance to catch up with everyone before I depart!

We had the celebrations at Major Toms, and it was so much fun! It was also hilarious/embarrassing/emotional. *cough* Brittany *cough*.

Thank you to Donna G for taking such lovely photos, mummy, daddy and Joseph for just being amazing, and everyone who was there to help me feel super loved!!
I am so blessed to have the friends and family I do.

My week in pictures (so far):

This is the funniest/cutest thing to see every morning on my way to work with mum - this dog always has booties on, last week they were red. The week before another colour.
Proof I have been working hard at the timber mill - I have worn through two pairs of these in the past three weeks!
I love that NZ has a natural christmas tree! The Pohutukawas are so beautiful right now.
Enzo and I chilling in the sun.
Getting tans.
Larissa's skills at photography :)
I love this flat! I want to live here again...
Larissa being a creep and stalking people down with binoculars. Walk past the flat, I dare you.
My favourite part about being back in Auckland? Being ridiculous with this chick. She's going to hate me for putting these up :)

A few thoughts.

Today I had the 'pleasure' of getting my first round of vaccinations in preparation for India. I received a typhoid/hep-A and a Polio vaccine, one in each arm, so I went and bought myself some food to console myself afterwards haha. I am just waiting now to see whether I will get the common side-effects of nausea and a fever...

So right now I am really on the inspiration buzzzzzz, and here are some images that are getting me on that high!!:
I like to think that I take most opportunities to have a bit of a peep outside of the box, to stick my head through the top and have a quick look. Sometimes I need to just clamber on out and jump away from the box altogether.

I love this image. I have seen a few like this, and I just love how it inspires me - when I am in India, I really want to make a scrap-book or just some way of collecting different photographs/items/notes etc. You can see more here.

I so want to see this movie! It is called 'Hanna', and it has the lovely actress Saoirse Ronan (also in The Lovely Bones  and Atonement).

I love these collages by Ashlie Chavez. It makes me want to pick up an old magazine and hack away!

When I one day have my own space, I really want to have just that. Space. I want to live in a large, open studio area, and have awesome clothes hangers like above, with inspirational quotes on the walls in large type.

And this image is just too awesome to ignore! I so want to do this with some of the old encyclopedias I have at home some day.

Anxious to get to India!

So recently I have been reading Kimia Kline's blog Alkeemi, which is about her experience as an artist moving from America to Chennai, India. Her photography is amazing, and really captures the beautiful people and sights around India - it makes me so anxious to go there already!

These following photographs are from this post, about her trip with her husband to Jaipur, Rajasthan (in India). I am in awe of the beautiful architecture and colour palates!

Can't wait to begin documenting my own experiences in Kolkata when I shift there in February for a year!!
